Expecting Twins or Triplets? Why Planning Newborn Support Before the Babies Arrive Can Make All the Difference
A Newborn Care Specialist, often called an NCS, focuses on newborn care and parent support during the early weeks or months. Depending on training and scope, an NCS may help with routines, bottle preparation and sanitation, diapering, soothing, nursery organization and newborn laundry. Some specialize in twins and other multiples. They are not automatically nurses or medical professionals.
Families also frequently use the phrase “night nurse” when they actually mean a night nanny or overnight newborn care specialist. A licensed nurse is a medical professional. When a baby requires skilled medical care or monitoring, families should work with appropriately licensed healthcare providers.
With multiples, one professional may not always be enough. Three newborns plus older children, cooking, cleaning, errands and overnight care can become several jobs. A thoughtful staffing agency can help families divide responsibilities realistically. When you are bringing home two or three babies at once, asking for help is not an afterthought. It can be part of the plan.
