Don't Wait Until Moving Day: When Should You Start Hiring Staff for a New Home or Estate?

Private household staffing should not always be the last item on a moving checklist.

Before the move, ask how the finished household will operate: who manages the home, who handles the children, who oversees vendors, who prepares meals, and who owns recurring household responsibilities.

For multi-person teams, hiring the house manager or estate manager early can sometimes provide helpful operational leadership as other roles are added. Families also need time for interviews, references, background screening, compensation discussions, and paid trials when appropriate.
