Caring for Mom or Dad Is Exhausting: Why Respite Support Does Not Mean You're Stepping Away

Family caregiving often grows slowly: one appointment becomes groceries, transportation, laundry, phone calls and weekends. Adult children may also have careers, children, spouses, businesses and households of their own.

Non-medical companion support can create time for the family caregiver to work, rest, attend children’s activities, travel or simply have personal time while the parent receives appropriate companionship and agreed everyday support.

You remain their daughter. You remain their son. Additional support can create more room for the relationship itself. Taking care of someone you love should not require disappearing from your own life.
